Exterior wood accents have been huge the last few years. We remodeled this small green house in 2016 and made wood shutters out of stained Poplar. We loved this look and it was cheaper than buying shutters pre-made. We have checked back on that house over the years and the shutters still look beautiful! We cleaned up the landscaping and added minimal plants.
This house holds a special place in my heart. My husband and I both had full time jobs in the Seattle area and had to travel across the state on the weekends to finish this house. It was challenging and horrible at times but so so worth it. Not financially, just worth it :)
Fun fact, this house sold within 24 hours of listing it! :)
With our split-level house in Monroe we went a different route and used some beautiful sealed cedar for those shutters and wood accents. There is a little bit of maintenance (re-sealing every couple years) to this but you can't beat the beauty of them.
This house was tan before and it wasn't a terrible color, but it was super old paint that was chipping off and it needed a face lift. We went with a nice bright white for the exterior on this one.
The exterior door was an odd muave color. We originally went to a black door but it bubbled a and peeled int he sun so we came back in with a 2-tone front door. The side lights are a dark slate gray and the door is blue gray.
